Alaska

City of Nome

On June 28, 2021, the Common Council voted to extend its emergency ordinance through September 30, 2021.

 

Arizona

Safety Precautions

On July 2, 2021, Gov. Doug Ducey rescinded twenty-five COVID-19 pandemic related executive orders.

 

California

City of Santa Monica

On June 24, 2021, Interim City Manager John Jalili announced their eviction moratorium was extended to September 30, 2021.

 

Colorado

Boulder County

On June 25, 2021, The Smoke-Free Ordinance for unincorporated Boulder County has been updated to align with the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act and to protect people from second-hand smoke to ensure the safety and wellbeing of people in Boulder County, including unincorporated areas.

City of Denver

Effective July 1, 2021, the City’s “Bring your own Bag” ordinance begins. Customers are required to provide their own bag or pay a fee.

 

Connecticut

Smoking on Premises

Effective October 1, 2021, the state smoking law is amended requiring employers (5 or more employees) to prohibit smoking, the use of electronic nicotine, cannabis delivery systems and vapor products in any area of any business facility under its control. CT S.B. 1201A

 

Florida

Telephone Solicitation

On June 29, 2021, Gov. Ron DeSantis amended existing statute FL C.S./S.B. 1120 prohibiting the making, knowing or allowing of a sales call to be made if the call involves an automated system for the selection or dialing of telephone numbers or the playing of a recorded message when a connection is completed to a number called without the prior express written consent of the called party.

Hillsborough County

On July 1, 2021, County Administrator Bonnie Wise extended the emergency declaration through July 8, 2021.

 

Illinois

City of Chicago

On June 25, 2021, Mayor Lori Lightfoot signed an ordinance requiring hotels to offer displaced employees their previous positions before hiring replacement workers.

City of Chicago

On July 25, 2021, Mayor Lori Lightfoot signed an ordinance providing new wage theft protections and expands the covered reasons for use of paid sick leave.

Lake County

On July 1, 2021, the County instituted a $.04 per gallon gas tax to provide transportation infrastructure investment.

 

Indiana

On June 30, 2021, Gov. Eric Holcomb extended the State’s Covid-19 emergency until July 30, 2021.

Marion County

Effective July 1, 2021, the County’s COVID-19 restrictions were rescinded allowing businesses to open at 100% capacity.

 

Minnesota

Safety Precautions

On July 29, 2021, Gov. Tim Walz announced an end effective to the State’s COVID-19 peacetime emergency per vote by the Minnesota House and Senate.

 

Missouri

Taxes

On June 30, 2021, Gov. Mike Parsons signed S.B. 153 & 97, allowing Missouri and local jurisdictions to collect a use tax from online retailers who sell and deliver more than $100,000 in tangible goods to consumers in the state annually.

 

Montana

Safety Precautions

On June 30, 2021, Gov. Greg Gianforte ended the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Cannabis

Effective January 1, 2022, the definition of lawful product will include marijuana, thereby prohibiting discrimination against an individual for its use. The definition of a debilitating condition is also amended to remove “any other medical condition or treatment for a medical condition approved by the Montana legislature”. MT H.B. 701

 

New Jersey

Safety Precautions

On June 30, 2021, Gov. Phil Murphy signed NJ S-2682/A-4016 creating the New Jersey Rare Disease Council.

Jersey City

On July 1, 2021, the City Council voted to mandate that bathrooms in the city with just one stall or toilet be gender neutral.

 

Texas

Safety Precautions

On July 1, 2021, Gov. Greg Abbott renewed his COVID-19 disaster declaration.

Data Breach Notification

Effective September 1, 2021, the State’s data breach notice that is required to be sent to the state attorney general must include the number of affected residents that have been sent a disclosure of the breach by mail or other direct method of communication at the time of notification. TX H.B. 3746

 

Washington

King County

On June 29, 2021, the County Council approved tenant protections that require a landlord to have just causes to evict or end a lease.

Grant County

On July 1, 2021, the County announced that its mask requirement had been rescinded.
